Dare we care at all about current fashions if that means reducing our ability to help hungry neighbors? How many more luxuries should we buy for ourselves and our children when others are dying for lack of bread?

There are children being born all across this world that don't have enough food to eat because that God, at least his church, tells the mothers and fathers that they must procreate at all costs, and to prevent procreation with a condom is in contravention with his laws. Now, I don't believe that God exists. I think that God is creation of men, by men, and for men. What has happened over the many centuries now, the better part of two thousand in fact, is that that God has been slowly and steadily accruing power. His church has been accruing power, and the men who run that church, and they are all men, are not about to give it up. If they give it up, they give up luxury, they give up comfort.

Having books standing on a shelf in a room is like having completely different worlds at the ready, waiting to be explored.

To me bathtubs are the epitome of luxury. Either you have no money to own one or you have no time to use one.

Now I don__ know how many people like to drive a Beetle at that kind of speed (on purpose) but I know I__ rather go down Brickmaker__ Kloof on a bicycle with no brakes! Driving any car at that speed in anything other than an expensive German luxury car on a long, straight autobahn is enough of a risk (let alone the risk of hitting anything) _ but if you try that with a Beetle and add a light crosswind, factor in some rubber peeling off your tire, and you__l more than likely find yourself dancing alone in a dark corner without any music.
