When you're appeasing too much, you might be egotistically over-estimating everyone's need for your approval.

But above all, above respect and esteem, there was a motive within her of good will which could not be overlooked. To feel the joy of life, sell your pride and get lost in the simplicity and humility.

Treat people like people. Beware of pity and patronization because in them, you can't see when you're unashamedly looking down on someone.

Never embarrass a student in front of others. Embarrass yourself often to relieve the tension, but do not paint them into a corner.

Where was his empathy? Buried, I supposed, beneath his self-regard.

Many preachers are at home among books but quite at sea among men.

The emphasis and the reason for a pure humility is to result in love for others; not always necessarily the belittlement of self. When there is pride and self-righteousness and being pretentiously too far above, generally, one has a difficult time reaching the compassionate side of love for others, the side that understands (or at least attempts to understand): 'I am aware that I am not so far from falling in the same way.' Humility seeks to understand, and sometimes even relate; and in result, the love lovingly, properly, effectively wills the removal of the destructive sins of another as from oneself.

How can one ever do anything nobly Christian, living among people with such petty thoughts?

God didn't send His only Son to die on the cross so that we can hide behind our guilt, shame, and pride.

If, in his pride, he considers God as a challenge, he will deny Him; and if God becomes man and therefore makes Himself vulnerable, he will crucify Him.

Pride is often used as a way to protect our hearts and to hide the truth. Pride causes us to shut down and build walls.

Whether through an outwardly prideful life of breaking the rules or an inwardly prideful life of keeping the rules, we are people who have sought to avoid Jesus and run our own lives.

Stay Humble. Often anger comes from our own ego and pride. We don't get our own way and so we get angry. But remember, it's not all about you. :) There are other people on the planet that have wants and needs to. :) If what you want conflicts with what others want, sometime you will have to let them have what they want. Everyone is not here to meet your needs alone. They need to take care of themselves sometimes too. Sometimes anger is an ego trip. It's when we think everyone should cater to our needs and do things our own way. Our pride makes us start to think that it's our way or the highway. But you are not God. No one but God is God. :) You cannot run the universe and you are not perfect. These are all good things to remind ourselves of all the time. Paul says in Romans 12, "Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment." Often times anger comes when we have a high opinion of ourselves and the way we think things SHOULD be done. But no one of is perfect. None of us has a perfect way of doing things. We need to allow for differences in other people and different opinions on things. It is never we are right and everyone else is wrong. We need to admit that sometimes we might be wrong too. Amen. So always remember to stay humble and not think of yourself as being perfect or better than you are. If you are able to see that you too make mistakes all the time, then you will have more grace for other people, and you will then become angry less. Amen.

At this moment God might not necessarily be a necessity, but know that His absence will of necessity eventually result in His necessity.

Pride could be painful sometimes. And right now, hers was suffocating

Do not be complacent about your achievements and not to strive for continual improvement when you get to the top. As soon as you let success go to your head, you sink into following familiar patterns and play it safe. In other words, you risk losing your edge.
