Once you get into this great stream of history, you can't get out.

When the president does it that means it is not illegal.

You know very well that whether you are on page one or page thirty depends on whether they fear you. It is just as simple as that.

Now that all the members of the press are so delighted I lost I'd like to make a statement. As I leave you I want you to know -just think how much you'll be missing. You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore because gentlemen this is my last press conference.

I gave 'em a sword. And they stuck it in and they twisted it with relish. And I guess if I had been in their position I'd have done the same.

The people's right to change what does not work is one of the greatest principles of our system of government.

Those who hate you don't win unless you hate them - and then you destroy yourself.

I let the American people down and I have to carry that burden for the rest of my life. My political life is over. I will never again have an opportunity to serve in any official position. Maybe I can give a little advice from time to time.

You gotta remember the smartest thing the Congress did was to limit the voters in this country. Out of 3 1/2 to 4 million people, 200,000 voted. And that was true for a helluva long time, and the republic would have never survived if all the dummies had voted along with the intelligent people.
