Men-what arrogance! That was the worst of them. Forget the sexual hold they had on you. They would never liberate women at all.

Every woman knows what I'm talking about. It__ the presumption that makes it hard, at times, for any woman in any field; that keeps women from speaking up and from being heard when they dare; that crushes young women into silence by indicating, the way harassment on the street does, that this is not their world. It trains us in self-doubt and self-limitation just as it exercises men__ unsupported overconfidence.

The battle with Men Who Explain Things has trampled down many women _ of my generation, of the up-and-coming generation we need so badly, here and in Pakistan and Bolivia and Java, not to speak of the countless women who came before me and were not allowed into the laboratory, or the library, or the conversation, or the revolution, or even the category called human.

Men who thought of themselves as gods fell the farthest, and the hardest.

Ignorance has one virtue: persistence. It will insist through dogged persistence on leading others to follow its vision no matter how misguided. Ignorance will drive the world to the brink of failure and catastrophe and beyond into the abyss with arrogance and anger because wisdom is often too polite to fight. Wisdom doesn__ like to impose its will, but that is all ignorance understands__orce over free will and choice. Sooner or later the world comes to its senses, but oh the damage that has been done.

I can arrogantly brag that the doors I choose in life open wide and grant me unobstructed passage. But the widest doors tend to lead to the worst places.

Pride and entitlement always go with unforgiveness. The longer you hold someone's offense over them, the more likely you are to start feeling arrogant and entitled to your posture toward him.

Even the richest of brands are robbed by poor character.

When I was young, I thought it was thunder that kills people. But when I learnt physics in St. Paul's High School, I discovered that it is rather the lightning that does the killing. The voice of the thunder itself is just a noise. The lightning is the poise. I learnt to take the course of my life, not by violence but rather with intelligence.

Any man who behaves arrogantly with what little he knows, or claims to know all, only reveals to all that he really knows nothing. Real greatness does not reside inside those who feel large. The truly wise are meek.

Knowledge is as infinite as the universe. The man who claims to know all only reveals to all that he really knows nothing.

Arrogance and a teachable spirit are mutually exclusive.

It is better to doubt that a concept is stupidly flying under your head than profoundly flying over your head.

People love answers, but only as long as they are the ones who came up with them.

An exceedingly confident student would in theory make a terrible student. Why would he take school seriously when he feels that he can outwit his teachers?

Ah! how little knowledge does a man acquire in his life. He gathers it up like water, but like water it runs between his fingers, and yet, if his hands be but wet as though with dew, behold a generation of fools call out, 'See, he is a wise man!' Is it not so?

God wants us to humbly and sincerely ask him things. How often do you enjoy people talking about you without taking the time to get to know you?

We only set the clocks back and forth in the arrogant belief we have some influence with almighty Time.
