Your purpose is your why.

Happiness is not to be achieved at the command of emotional whims. Happiness is not the satisfaction of whatever irrational wishes you might blindly attempt to indulge. Happiness is a state of non-contradictory joy__ joy without penalty or guilt, a joy that does not clash with any of your values and does not work for your own destruction, not the joy of escaping from your mind, but of using your mind's fullest power, not the joy of faking reality, but of achieving values that are real, not the joy of a drunkard, but of a producer. Happiness is possible only to a rational man, the man who desires nothing but rational goals, seeks nothing but rational values and finds his joy in nothing but rational actions.

Money can't buy happiness but it can buy a huge yacht that sails right next to it.

What does freedom mean if we accept the fundamental premise that humans are social beings, raised in certain social and historical contexts and belonging to particular communities that shape their desires and understandings of the world?

They may have told you that you are useless but I am here to give you a better report about you: You are not a mistake. You have the potential to do what you were born to do. Yes, you are not a failure! Know that God values you and He is on your side.

As a basic step of self-esteem, learn to treat as the mark of a cannibal any man__ demand for your help. To demand it is to claim that your life is his property _ and loathsome as such claim might be, there__ something still more loathsome: your agreement. Do you ask if it__ ever proper to help another man? No- if he claims it as his right or as a moral duty that you owe him. Yes- if such is your own desire based on your own selfish pleasure in the value of his person and his struggle. Suffering as such is not a value, only man__ fight against suffering is. If you choose to help a man who suffers, do it only on the ground of his virtues, of his fight to recover, of his rational record, or of the fact that he suffers unjustly; then your action is still trade, and his virtue is the payment for your help. But to help a man who has no virtues, to help him on the ground of his suffering as such, to accept his faults, his need, as a claim _ is to accept the mortgage of a zero on your values. A man who has no virtues is a hater of existence who acts on the premise of death; to help him is to sanction his evil and to support his career of destruction. Be it only a penny you will miss or a kindly smile he has not earned, a tribute to a zero is treason to life and to all those who struggle to maintain it. It is of such pennies and smiles that the desolation of your world was made.

Self-esteem wasn't the issue for my parents or their parents. Survival was their primary goal.

If our sense of self, our values and our ideals, do not originate from within - but are instead largely influenced, shaped or fashioned by celebrated characters - we fall under the spells of idol worship without realizing we have 'souled out'.

Timeless principles never age, and truth is as young as the day it was spoken into existence.

Self-serving biases and self-centered agendas are cotton jammed in the ears of our conscience. Even if truth shouts, we can__ hear it.

A further, albeit more complex, possibility is that our conscious selves might suffer from characteristic uncertainty about our true values, and gather information about them from choices we make (the Jamesian: "How do I know what I like until I see what I pick").

One of the main tasks of adolescence is to achieve an identity__ot necessarily a knowledge of who we are, but a clarification of the range of what we might become, a set of self-references by which we can make sense of our responses, and justify our decisions and goals.

When what you value and dream about doesn__ match the life you are living, you have pain.

Don__ let them fool you and tell you goals has to be unified before any partnership agreement. Be carefully concerned about unifying your values and principles, after that all will run smoothly.

A clear purpose will unite you as you move forward, values will guide your behavior, and goals will focus your energy.

Even the greatest fool can accomplish a task if it were after hisor her heart. But the intelligent ones are those who can convert every work into one that suits their taste
